Perry Como was known by my mother's parents the Joseph Bell family, mainly because his parents were from the same town of Palena,Italy.

My father was a part time barber and cut hair with Perry in Canonsburg, PA. where I was born. My mother's brother Nick Bell was a well know local trumpeter and played in bands that accompanied Perry Como from time to time. I never met Perry, but my parents knew him well enough to visit him at his Florida home about 1972. He remembered them after 35 years.
My cousin Bobby Shawn, a local Canonsburg entertainer, helped by Perry Comto get a gig in Las Vegas many years ago. Bobby elected to be a local guy rather than go on to the big time. Ralph Salanskynoreply@blogger.com
